The detail behind the total
A total hours figure raises as many questions as it answers. Employee Insights opens the moment you click a name in Team Insights, splitting that person's hours across every customer they worked on, then again by service item, so you can see the shape of their week rather than just the sum of it.
| Customer | Hours |
|---|---|
| Acme Corp | 42.5 |
| Widget Co | 38.0 |
| Internal | 12.0 |
Built for utilisation reviews and performance check-ins
Utilisation rate - billable hours as a percentage of total hours - is one of the most useful numbers a services business can track, and it's calculated automatically here rather than in a separate spreadsheet. If your team uses square-bracket work type tags in timesheet descriptions, the by-tag split shows how time divides between feature work, support, advisory, or whatever categories matter to your business - see Timesheet Description Tags for how to set that up.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate an employee's utilisation rate?
Employee Insights shows billable hours as a share of total hours logged for the period, which is the standard utilisation rate calculation - no separate spreadsheet needed.
Can I see which customers an employee worked on?
Yes. Opening an employee's detail view breaks their hours down by customer for the selected period, alongside a breakdown by service item and by work type tag.
Can I get to the individual time entries behind a total?
Yes. Every number in Employee Insights links through to the underlying time entries - date, service item, description, and hours - so you can see exactly what made up any total.
